WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Seven faculty members of the Division of PHS at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center were recently recognized for contributions ranging from mentoring to research to service at the first-ever PHS Faculty Awards Banquet held March 28 at SciWorks. Gregory Burke, M.D., director of the division, served as the master of ceremonies.
Award recipients are:
Michelle Naughton, Ph.D. - Teaching and Educational Service Award, presented to the faculty member who has best exemplified the teaching mission through distinguished instruction and mentoring of students and exemplary service in the medical school or graduate programs.
Michael Miller, Ph.D. - Institutional and Divisional Service Award, presented to the faculty member whose dedicated administrative service and innovative leadership have been instrumental in the success of the division and Wake Forest University Health Sciences.
Scott Rhodes, Ph.D. - Professional and Community Service Award, presented to the faculty member who has had long-standing success in developing exceptional programs to address the public health needs of the greater community and expanding the public outreach efforts of the division and the institution.
Sara Quandt, Ph.D. - Outstanding Senior Faculty Research Award, presented to the professor who has made exceptional contributions to the body of knowledge in his or her discipline, through publications, presentations and research grants and collaborations.
Edward Ip, Ph.D. - Outstanding Mid-Career Faculty Research Award, presented to an associate professor who has made exceptional contributions to the body of knowledge in his or her discipline through publications, presentations and research grants and collaborations.
Yongmei Liu, M.D., Ph.D. - Outstanding Early Career Faculty Research Award, presented to an Assistant Professor who has made exceptional contributions to the body of knowledge in his or her discipline, through publications, presentations and research grants and collaborations.
David Goff, Jr., M.D. Ph.D. - Faculty Mentoring Award, presented to the faculty member who has made excellent contributions to the division and institution through mentoring and co-mentoring colleagues in their professional and personal development.
