NCI designation is given only to centers that meet strict criteria for cancer research, collaboration and availability of advanced technologies. For patients, it is an assurance of excellent care and comprehensive treatment options, including access to the latest clinical trials. The Wake Forest center has held the comprehensive status since 1991.
