WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – “Shades of Praise,” an interracial gospel choir from New Orleans, will perform a benefit concert at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center on Friday Nov. 11 at 3:30 p.m. in Davis Memorial Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.
“Nearly half of the choir members lost all of their material possessions as a result of hurricane Katrina and its aftermath,” said Richard P. McQuellon, Ph.D., associate professor of internal medicine and director of psychosocial oncology and cancer patient support programs at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University. “While the concert is free, we ask that those who attend make a donation to help choir members rebuild their lives.”
The choir’s fundraising tour also includes performances at Wake Forest University’s Reynolda Campus at 11:30 a.m., Friday Nov. 11, and at our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 1730 Link Rd., at 7:30 p.m., Saturday Nov. 12.
