WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Renato M. Santos, M.D., has joined the cardiology faculty at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as assistant professor.
An interventional cardiologist, Santos is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 1990. He completed his residency and fellowship at Duke University.
Santos’ clinical interest is in general cardiology with a focus on cardiac catheterization and catheter-based treatment (such as angioplasty and stenting) of coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease. He is currently accepting patients. His research interests include clinical trials of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndromes.
He is married to Sharon Castellino, M.D., who will join the Wake Forest Baptist faculty in October in pediatric hematology and oncology. Their son Andreas, age 7, attends school at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and their daughter Olivia, age 3, attends the Montessori School of Winston-Salem. The family lives in Winston-Salem.
