WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – C. Dan Barrett, chairman of the Davie County Hospital board of trustees, will receive a hospital trustee award from the North Carolina Hospital Association (NCHA).
Barrett, a partner with the Winston-Salem law firm Edwards Ballard Clark Barrett and Carlson, is one of nine hospital trustees to be honored at the NCHA’s annual Leaders Institute, April 24 in Hilton Head, S.C. The award recognizes trustees who have made significant and unique contributions to their hospitals and the communities they serve.
“Hospital trustees are faced with a special set of challenges and demands unique to their local communities,” said William H. Pully, NCHA president. “The association is proud to honor Dan Barrett for his efforts to improve the delivery of health care in his community and for his role in ensuring the financial viability of his hospital.”
Barrett has served as a Davie County commissioner since 2000. He is currently a Republican Party candidate for governor of North Carolina.
He received his bachelor’s and law degrees from Wake Forest University. Barrett lives in Advance with his wife, Kathleen Anderson Barrett, and their two children, Daniel and Rebekah.
Since 1956, Davie County Hospital has served Mocksville and the greater Davie County communities. An affiliate of North Carolina Baptist Hospital, it is a Critical Access Hospital offering a range of services that include emergency care, long-term “swing beds,” diagnostic procedures such as lab, X-ray and MRI, health screenings and surgical services.
Accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Davie County Hospital has emergency services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as the services of a variety of hospital-affiliated medical specialists, providing care by appointment, in gastroenterology, orthopedics, podiatry, ear, nose and throat, obstetrics and gynecology, urology and cardiology.
The NCHA is a statewide trade association representing 130 hospitals and health systems. It promotes improved community health status and delivery of quality health care through leadership, information, education and advocacy in members’ interest and for public benefit.
