WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has been honored with a special award by the nine-state Southeastern Region of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., better known as IEEE.
The announcement came from W. Cleon Anderson, vice president for regional activities, who said the award citation reads, "In recognition of many supporting contributions to the IEEE Winston Salem Section and Region 3."
Anderson said the IEEE wanted to recognize the department’s “consistent support during the past years with numerous IEEE activities.”
He said the list included sponsoring the IEEE Computer-Based Medical Systems Conference in1994 and the IEEE North Carolina Symposium and Exhibition in 1995; providing meeting spaces and meeting equipment for IEEE events and providing speakers with exceptional technical presentations at IEEE Winston-Salem Section events.
