Medical Centers Join Forces for Prostate Cancer Screening

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Downtown Health Plaza of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Novant Health’s Medical Park Hospital will again offer a free prostate cancer screening.

The dates are Thursday, September 26 from 6-8pm, by appointment only, at both locations and Saturday, September 28 from 7-11am at the Downtown Health Plaza (no appointments for this date).

Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting men in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer death. It is the most common type of cancer in men in North Carolina, and the incidence is two times higher in African-American males than Caucasian.

The screening is open to men 50+ who haven’t had a prostate exam in the last year, and men 40+ who are African-American or have a family history of prostate cancer.
