"Osteoporosis: Could It Happen to You?" will be presented from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 11 at the Carver School Road Branch of the Forsyth County Library.
Edith Lawson, a certified densitometry technologist at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, is the guest speaker.
The event is sponsored by the library and the Women''s Health Center of Excellence at the Medical Center. The program is part of "Health at the Well," a Women''s Center effort to educate women about health issues. In addition to the public talk, free resource materials on osteoporosis are available at the library during May and June.
Osteoporosis, sometimes called "brittle bone disease," is a weakening of the bones that can lead to fractures. Bone densitometry is a test to diagnose the disease before symptoms occur.
The library is at 4915 Lansing Road, at the corner of Lansing and Carver School Roads. For more information, call Alma Wilson at 716-3066.
