U.S. News & World Report ranked Wake Forest University School of Medicine among the top 20 medical schools in the nation for educating primary care doctors -- the kind of doctors that most people see for a majority of their care.
The school of medicine, home of the J. Paul Sticht Center on Aging and Rehabilitation, is ranked among the top 10 schools in America for its geriatrics curriculum. Overall, the magazine ranked Wake Forest among the top 50 medical schools nationwide.
In surveys distributed and tabulated by U.S. News & World Report, medical school deans and senior faculty were asked to rank all 124 accredited medical schools in the nation for the overall ranking. All medical schools plus the 19 schools of osteopathic medicine are considered for the primary-care ranking. They based their opinions on each school''s reputation, research activity, percentage of physicians from the school entering primary care residencies, caliber of student and faculty resources.
