Nakagawa is a professor of anesthesiology and pediatrics and serves as an attending physician and section head for pediatric critical care medicine, medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit and medical director for respiratory care at Brenner Children's Hospital.
His major interests include traumatic brain injury in children specifically related to abusive head trauma and organ donation and transplantation issues in children, including end-of-life care.
Nakagawa has served as a consultant to the American Academy of Pediatrics for policy revision on organ donation and transplantation. He also served as faculty for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA) organ donation and transplantation collaboratives. He is a national consultant on issues pertaining to abusive head trauma, organ donation and transplantation.
Nakagawa is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. He is listed in Best Doctors in America and America's Top Physicians.
