Christopher A. Sullivan, MD
Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology
Sullivan is a national pioneer in the endoscopic management of hypopharyngeal stenosis after organ-sparing chemoradiation therapy for head and neck cancer, and the lead investigator of a seminal study that employed the TREAD (transgastric retrograde esophagoscopy with anterograde dilatation) technique in successful rehabilitation of swallowing. He is now involved in the development of a bioabsorbable, drug-eluding stent for esophageal stenosis. Sullivan is investigating the use of wound-closing sutures that inhibit the formation of collagen, and earlier this year published his success in reducing scar tissue in rodent models. He is also involved in a promising study to restore salivary gland function in oral cancer patients. Sullivan is listed in "Best Doctors in America."
