Keynote speakers have been announced for the TERMIS-North America Conference and Expo, set for Dec. 5-8 at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Fla. This year’s conference theme is "Where Discovery Meets Innovation.”

The TERMIS (Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine International Society) North America conference will cover a wide range of topics within the fields of tissue engineering, biomaterials, stem cells and regenerative medicine. The meeting is designed to foster interactions among basic scientists engaged in discovery and development, translational researchers who bring scientific discoveries to the clinical forefront, clinicians, and those engaged with funding, regulatory and commercial endeavors.

Keynote speakers will be Ronald D.G. McKay, Ph.D., senior investigator in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke; Teruo Okano, Ph.D., director and professor, Institute of Advanced Biomedical Engineering and Science, Tokyo Women's Medical University; and Michael L. Shuler, Ph.D., the James M. and Marsha McCormick Chair of Biomedical Engineering and the Samuel B. Eckert Professor of Chemical Engineering, Cornell University School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

The meeting is hosted by the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and chaired by Anthony Atala, M.D., institute director. James Yoo, M.D., Ph.D., an associate director and chief scientific officer at the institute, is the meeting’s scientific program chair. The goal of the event is to present and exchange new results and advances in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.  An early registration discount is offered through Sept. 30, with a special drawing to win an Apple iPad for registrations received before the early bird cut-off.
