WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The following individuals have been promoted from associate professor to professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Walter Ambrosius, Ph.D., biostatistics, received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Washington University. He completed his doctorate at the University of Chicago.
Martin K. Childers, D.O., Ph.D., neurology, received his undergraduate degree from Seattle Pacific University. He completed his doctor of osteopathic medicine at Western University, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. He also holds a doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Anthony J. DeFranzo, M.D., surgical sciences - plastic and reconstructive surgery, earned his undergraduate degree at Trinity College and postgraduate degree at The George Washington University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Boston University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship at Duke University and the University of Louisville. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board ofPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Board of Hand and Microsurgery.
J.C. Gerancher, M.D., anesthesiology, earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He completed residency at the Bowman Grey School of Medicine. His fellowship was completed at the Virginia Mason Clinic. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dwayne W. Godwin, Ph.D., neurobiology and anatomy, earned his doctorate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
R. Duncan Hite, M.D., internal medicine - pulmonary, earned his medical degree at University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his residency at the University of Virginia and completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (pulmonary, critical care medicine).
Edward Ip, Ph.D., biostatistical sciences, received his master’s and doctorate degrees from Stanford University.
Karl H. Karlson, M.D., pediatrics, received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a residency and fellowship at the Tulane University School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (Pediatric Pulmonary).
Julienne K. Kirk, Pharm.D., family and community medicine, received her undergraduate and doctorate in pharmacy degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is board certified by the American Board of Certified Pharmaceutical Specialties.
Mark P. Knudson, M.D., family and community medicine, received his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Virginia. He completed a family practice residency in the Department of Family and Community Medicine in Columbia, Mo, where he also completed the Robert Wood Johnson Fellowship. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Patrick E. Lantz, M.D., pathology, received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University. He completed a residency at the University of New Mexico affiliated hospitals. He completed his fellowship at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Pathology (anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, forensic pathology).
Gail S. Marion, PA-C, Ph.D., family and community medicine, received her undergraduate and doctoral degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She completed a mini research fellowship in family and community medicine at Wake Forest Baptist.
Carol Milligan, Ph.D., neurobiology and anatomy, received her doctorate degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania.
P. Pearse Morris, M.B., B.Ch., radiology, received his postgraduate degree from the National University of Ireland. He completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship at Cornell Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and by the American Board of Radiology with a certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology.
April E. Ronca, Ph.D., obstetrics and gynecology, received her doctorate degree from Ohio State University. She completed postgraduate training at Indiana University.
David C. Sane, M.D., cardiology, received his postgraduate degree from Duke University. He also completed his residency and fellowship at Duke University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease.
Beverly M. Snively, Ph.D., biostatistical science, received her undergraduate degree from Colby College and her graduate degree from the Medical College of Virginia. She completed her doctorate degree at Johns Hopkins University.
Stephen B. Tatter, M.D., Ph.D., neurosurgery, received both postgraduate degrees from The Rockefeller University and Cornell University Medical College. He completed a residency and fellowship at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Suzy V. Torti, Ph.D., biochemistry, received her undergraduate degree from Reed College. She completed her doctorate degree at Tufts University.
Jeffrey L. Weiner, Ph.D., physiology and pharmacology, received his undergraduate and doctorate degrees from the University of Toronto. He completed his postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado.
Mark Wolfson, Ph.D., social science and health policy, received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Indiana University. He completed a graduate and doctorate degrees from the Catholic University of America. He had postdoctoral training at Stanford and the University of California, Berkley.
