WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The following individuals have been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Liz M. Arnold, Ph.D., psychiatry and behavioral medicine, did her postgraduate work at the University of Georgia and received her doctor of philosophy degree at Florida State University. She did her clinical training at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Simon Bergman, M.D., anatomic pathology, did his postgraduate work at Hahnemann University and completed a residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He completed fellowships at both Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia and the Medical College of Virginia. He is board certified by the American Board of Pathology in Cytopathology.
Randy W. Callicott, M.D., inpatient anesthesiology, earned his graduate degree at the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences and completed his residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Pirouz Daeihagh, M.D., internal medicine-nephrology, earned his undergraduate degree at Purdue University and his post-graduate degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the University of Maryland and finished residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital. His fellowship was completed at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Patricia E. Gallagher, Ph.D., surgical sciences, earned her undergraduate degree from Memphis State University and her graduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Memphis.
Patricia A. Gibson, M.S.S.W., neurology, completed her undergraduate degree at Radford College in Virginia and her graduate degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
William H. Hinson, Ph.D., radiation oncology, received his undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees from Wake Forest University. He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology.
Thomas J. Hollis, Ph.D., biochemistry, received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and his graduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a postdoctoral fellow for the American Cancer Society at Harvard Medical School.
Edward H. Kincaid, M.D., cardiothoracic surgery, received his postgraduate degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Patrick Koty, Ph.D., medical genetics, received his doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed a fellowship at Allegheny-Singer Research Institute. He is board certified in clinical cytogenetics and molecular genetics.
Brenda Latham-Sadler, M.D., family and community medicine, earned her undergraduate degree from Pace University and her doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She completed an internship at Georgetown University and Providence Hospital. She completed a residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She has been named a diplomate by the American Board of Family Practice.
W. Todd Lowther, Ph.D., biochemistry, earned his undergraduate degree from Stetson University and his doctorate from the University of Florida. He completed post-doctoral training at the Institute of Molecular Biology at the University of Oregon.
David P. Miller, M.D., general internal medicine, earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and his graduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed an internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he was chief medical resident his last year. He has been named a diplomate by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Nilamadhab Mishra, M.D., internal medicine, received his medical degree from M.K.C.G. Medical College in Berhampur, India. He completed residency at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. He completed a fellowship at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Shashi Nagaraj, M.D., pediatric nephrology, received postgraduate degrees from Kasturba Medical College University, Bangalore University in India and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He completed residency at Bangalore University, Glan Clwyd Hospital, U.K., Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, Scotland, Grace Memorial Hospital, Canada, and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He completed a fellowship at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Guy K. Palmes, M.D., psychiatry and behavioral medicine, received his postgraduate degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his residency and fellowship at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Vernon H. Ross, M.D., obstetrical anesthesiology, received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. He completed his residency at Howard University Hospital and his fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Joel D. Stitzel, Ph.D., biomedical engineering, received his undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and his master’s degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his doctorate degree at Virginia Tech. He is also the Co-Principal Investigator of Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network (CIREN) center.
W. Edward Swords, Ph.D., microbiology and immunology, received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University and his graduate degree from Mississippi State University. He completed a doctorate at the University of Alabama- Birmingham.
Carl J. Westcott, M.D., general surgery, received his graduate degree at Hahnemann University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Hahnemann University Hospital. He completed a fellowship at Duke University Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
