The Winston-Salem Downtown Criterium, benefiting Brenner Children’s Hospital, will take place on Sunday, April 20 at the corner of First and Church Streets, beginning at noon. This is an all-day, family-oriented event featuring the 2008 ACC Cycling Championship in the morning and the Winston-Salem Downtown Criterium in the afternoon and is being hosted by Wake Forest University Cycling.
The Winston-Salem Downtown Criterium will include both adult public races and a kid’s bike race. In addition to the races there will also be a Cyclesafe.org Kids Bike Rodeo and other family activities. The Cyclesafe.org Kids Bike Rodeo, available to kids of all ages and bicycling abilities, is a series of fun obstacles designed to excite children about riding bikes and educate them on how to ride their bikes safely. The kids’ race is broken down into the following age groups: under six years, six to eight years, and nine to 14 years. Representatives with Brenner FIT and SAFE kids will also be on hand to answer questions regarding childhood obesity and preventing injuries. There is no entry fee for children, but donations to Brenner Children’s Hospital will be accepted. To pre-register, please visit us online at www.brennerchildrens.org and click on the link for race registration.
Brenner Children’s Hospital is benefiting as part of the children’s hospital’s association with Together for Kids, a national organization aimed to help children nationwide.
