The following faculty members have been promoted from instructor to assistant professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Gretchen Koontz, M.D., obstetrics and gynecology, received her doctor of medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine. She did a residency at the University of Washington Medical Center and completed a fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Allison McBride, M.D., pediatrics, received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She did an internship and completed residencies at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is board certified in pediatrics.
Chadwick Miller, M.D., emergency medicine, received his doctor of medicine degree from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He completed residencies at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
Savithri Nageswaran, M.B.B.S., pediatrics, received her medical degree from Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, India. She did an internship at North Carolina Baptist Hospital (NCBH) and residencies at NCBH and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is board certified in pediatrics and preventive medicine.
Suzanne Reich, M.P.A., physician assistant program, is a graduate of the Hahnemann University Physician Assistant Studies Program and received her master of physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska. She is certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
Michael D. Thomas, M.M.S., radiation oncology, received his master of medical science degree from Emory University. He is certified in therapeutic radiologic physics by the American Board of Radiology.
Heath C. Thornton, M.D., family and community medicine, received his doctor of medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed an internship and residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Va. He did a sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He is board certified in family medicine and has a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
Charles E. Wood, D.V.M., pathology, received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Stacie Zelman, M.D., emergency medicine, received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she completed an internship and residency. She is board certified in emergency medicine.
