Promotions at Wake Forest University School of Medicine

The following faculty members have been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Carl D. Langfeld, Ph.D., public health sciences-biostatistics, received his doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Paul J. Laurienti, M.D., radiologic sciences-biomedical engineering, received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and completed a fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Thomas W. McLean, M.D., pediatrics, received his doctor of medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed an internship and residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He did fellowships at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children and the Children’s Hospital in Boston. He is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology.

Catherine H. Messick, M.D., general internal medicine, received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She completed a residency at the University of Rochester Associated Hospitals Program and a fellowship at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal and geriatric medicine.

Cormac A. O’Donovan, M.D., neurology, received his doctor of medicine degree from the University College of Galway, Ireland. He completed an internship, residency and a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He is board certified in psychiatry and neurology.

Patrick S. Reynolds, M.D., neurology, received his doctor of medicine degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital and a fellowship at Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He is board certified in psychiatry and neurology neurosonology.

Michele M. Sale, Ph.D., internal medicine-endocrinology, received her doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Tasmania, Australia. She completed a fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Perry Shen, M.D., general surgery, received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Southern California. He completed an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a residency at the Los Angeles County and University of Southern California Medical Center and a fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. He is board certified in general surgery.

Avinash K. Shetty, M.D., pediatrics, received his doctor of medicine degree from Seth G. S. Medical College, India. He completed an internship and residency at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, India, and a fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is board certified in pediatrics.

Siqun Lilly Zheng, M.D., internal medicine-pulmonary, received her doctor of medicine degree from Shanghai Medical Center, China. She completed a fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
