Four Neurologists Join the Faculty at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center

The Department of Neurology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has announced the appointment of four additional physicians to its faculty.

Michael Guo, M.D., Ph.D. completed his training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Kentucky’s School of Medicine. He works with the spine center and is trained in all forms of interventional pain management of the spine.

Martin Childers, D.O., Ph.D., comes to the Medical Center with funding from the National Institute of Health to study gene therapy in muscular dystrophy, as well as nutritional supplements in the treatment of muscular dystrophy. His primary focus is research in Duchene's and Limb girdle muscular dystrophy.

Annette Grefe, M.D. will join pediatric neurology on Nov. 1. She trained in pediatrics and neurology at the University of Health Sciences Center and the Children’s Hospital in Denver. She has been in private practice in Billings, Montana since 1997, where she focused on sleep disorders and epilepsy.

Amy Harper, M.D. will join pediatric neurology on Jan. 15. Harper did her residency in pediatrics at Brody School of Medicine in Greenville and completed training in Pediatric Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at Oregon Health Sciences. In December of 2006, she will complete a neuromuscular fellowship. She comes to the Medical Center with an interest in developmental pediatrics and neuromuscular disease.
