Baptist Hospital Honors Its Volunteers

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – In conjunction with National Volunteer Week, North Carolina Baptist Hospital will honor 84 of its volunteers at a luncheon Friday April 23 at The Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center. The hospital has more than 600 volunteers who contribute more than 125,000 hours of service a year.

Hospital volunteers serve in a variety of positions, from assisting guests at the information desks to playing with the children in Brenner Children's Hospital.

Honorees with the highest levels of service are: Don Moss of Pilot Mountain, 33,000 hours; Sankie Fritchman of Winston-Salem, 20,000 hours; Louise Joyce of Advance, 17,000 hours; Betty Penn of Winston-Salem, 16,000 hours; and Beth Lynch, Wilma Smiley and Oliver White, all of Winston-Salem, 10,000 hours. Volunteers with 6,000 hours of service are Tom Houlden, Cecil Pate, Nancy Schuh and Ada Willard, all of Winston-Salem. Volunteers with 5,000 hours of service are Skip Boyles, Jane Brown and Bill Wagoner, all of Winston-Salem.
