North Carolina Baptist Hospital’s CON application to build a new hospital in King has been denied for a second time by the Certificate of Need Section of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.
“Of course we are disappointed by the State’s decision,” said Len Preslar, president and CEO of North Carolina Baptist Hospital (NCBH). “We have spent years studying all options and firmly believe this was the best, most viable plan for providing appropriate, affordable healthcare services to all residents of Stokes County.”
NCBH administration is evaluating next-steps.
“The reality is that services currently provided in Stokes County are underutilized because population growth has shifted dramatically towards King,” said Sandra Priddy, president of Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital. “We are trying to meet the needs of all residents by providing expanded community-based services in King while maintaining well-used and essential services in Danbury. We will re-evaluate our options.”
