Free Event to Answer Questions About Hormone Replacement Therapy

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Physicians and researchers from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center will answer questions about hormone replacement therapy (HRT) at a public meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center, 420 High Street. The panel will include experts in cancer, cardiology and women’s health.

Questions can be submitted in advance by calling 336-713-4222 or sending an email to whcoe@wfubmc.edu. Questions will also be taken at the event. Attendees will receive a free information packet including, “What To Ask Your Doctor.”

Wake Forest is one of two centers in the state conducting the Women’s Health Initiative, a large research study to learn more about women’s health. Recently, the study found that the risks of taking estrogen plus progestin outweigh the benefits for many women. About 7 million women in the United States take this combination of hormone replacement therapy.
