The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has approved a Certificate of Need filed by North Carolina Baptist Hospitals, Inc., to construct an approximately 50,000-square-foot facility to replace Reynolds Health Center.
Construction of the new health center will begin in the fall on five and a half acres of land located at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Patterson Avenue. The facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2000.
"The new facility will provide comprehensive primary and preventative health care services that will be affordable and accessible to all citizens in Forsyth County," said Michael L. Clements, director of Reynolds Health Center. "Because it will be located in the historic Depot Street section, construction of the new health center will contribute to the revitalization of downtown Winston-Salem."
The new facility will be a two-story outpatient center that will allow easy patient flow through clinic areas. It will feature an on-site pharmacy, a laboratory and radiology services. Programs now available at Reynolds Health Center such as the Department of Social Services (DSS), Women Infants and Children (WIC), Family Planning, Women and Infant Services for Health (WISH), and the Association for the Benefit of Child Development (ABCD) will also be located at the new health center.
Baptist Hospital began operating Reynolds Health Center in January of 1998 under an agreement with Forsyth County.
